Rubik's Competition

I had a very memorable experience about Rubik's competition.
Not a big competition but it's great enough.

There's a small rubik's competition when I attended MINDS' Gathering.

my rival was Abel Brata, The fastest cuber in Indonesia. Of course I couldn't beat him still especially if I battle one VS one. So the judges decided that the competition would be 3 rubik's VS 1 rubik's.
I still lost anyway though. lol. But I just lost by like 5-6 moves. Still not good but the experience to challenge the Rubik's Master of Indonesia, Abel Brata, was very memorable.

Perhaps I should do more rubik's or may not. I still love doin magic for sure. Rubik's just to train my brain

If you have a chance to try it, TRY it.... it's fun

Back to real world

After around 2 weeks I left my office, a lot of things await me.

Thanks God I can passed it on my first day back.

The other night I was thinking about my future. Where would I be in 5 years time. The longer I was thinking, The more I feel that a lot of things to do.
Hopefully I can get it through.

I just got back from Jakarta where I had Magic Gathering, Met my friends, and also did a bit of shopping.

On magic gathering I had wonderful time met my old magic's friends and new friends as well. Also not forget to say it was very joyful experience watched few of my friends did silly things while they would never ever showed that to public. Few my friends know the stories. It's classified lol

Meet new friends also become a very nice experience for me.

Btw I performed a cups and balls routine with new additional "tool" that I made myself. the result turned out to be quite good. Even fooled my friend who usually give me advices about my magic. The routine itself not-really-properly executed. I wasn't quite happy about it.

On the other side, I manage to create a scratch of my own cups and balls sequences which I think it's great. Because after all these time, I was thinking about it and it's very hard to find an idea to construct my own routine, but now, suddenly out of nowhere, I can create a scratch of it.

Another news about my wands. Most of my magic wands have already met their new master. Only one left for my best mate in magic. Hopefully you guys enjoy it and can create and feel the magic with it.
I'll make a new batch for some of my friends as well...

Now it's time to go back to real world and I think I started to feel a new enjoyment somewhere deep in my feeling.... Hopefully it turns out to be good

My New Magic wand

Okay,

this is it guys, the final look of my wands

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/andrelimantara/Image015.jpg

A bit of review

The background :
I've been in searching for a wand which I can use with my "expensive" cups. So I decided go with wood material and since I can found wood material here, I decided to make my own.

Material :
I choose Iron Wood cos it's a bit heavier compare to other wood material and fairly strong

The feel :
I'm really happy with the final look. The weight also slightly heavy compare to other wood material and also from plastic/resin wand.

I used to work with mercury wand which I think one of the best wand out there. For me, Mercury a bit heavy to manipulate since it made of full stainless steel especially to do striking vanish.

With this wand I can do striking vanish easily. I can execute Vernon spin vanish as well with good momentum. I've played with it for like 3-4 days and I really enjoy played with it.

I'm so happy with it

Deliver the magic to your audience

Hello fellow friends,

Once in a while or maybe everytime, you experience a situation where you perform good or great magic but your audience doesn't understand what that's all about or they have lack of interest to watch it and the worst could happen is they think you are "the star" of the day.

what happened ?
maybe lack of presentation ?
maybe lack of personality ?
Could be all

One point I wanna bring up today is "How to deliver the magic to your audience"

Before we talk further about it, I wanna ask you question
"Did you remember the feeling first time you saw magic stuff ?"
"Did you remember exactly how was it feel like ?"
Now close your eyes and remember it.

This is the first important thing to do.

Now the main thing.

Successful magic performance is shown by your audiences' reaction
To get the reaction you expected, you gotta make them "understand" your magic and it is your task to make them.

One thing you can do is make them understand through your presentation (which I won't talk about it right now)

Second, you have to transfer your understanding to them.
How we could do that ?

Love your magic !
That's why I asked you above questions in the first place

Love your magic first, then you can make your audience love yours. That's the rule
Put up simple story to explain your magic
and the important thing is interact with your audience as much as possible or whenever you have a chance.

Make impression that magic isn't always about you but they also can do some magic.
Make it a big deal that your audience can do it too and be happy about it.
Did you remember your happiness first time you witness the magic ? Now it's your time to make them feel "your happiness". Of course you have to smile a lot (don't have to if it's not your performing character).

By doing all steps you could get maximum reactions as those have served me very well.

Have fun with it

Cheers

My New Cups and Balls set

Finally the stuff I've been waiting for

My Mendoza's Cups and Balls set from RNT2 has arrived.
In the mean time, RNT2 doesn't take any order anymore until the new owner re-open the company.

First time I hold it in my hand it feels right and great.
I'm amazed by the craftsmanship over the cups. Jake has did it again.
I also get the balls. Red gold in color.

Too bad I wasn't taking the picture of if when I received it

Now it's forming nice patina in quite short time. so it looks "artificially" old.
The wand you see in the picture is Ammar's Mercury wand. That's the wand I mostly use.

In the other hand, I'm making myself a new magic wand as well through my friend. I use Iron Wood material which is weight great and also has great texture. I also design it myself. I've never seen kind of design in the market. Hopefully I can claim this is my own design.

I've performed CnB routines using this set for few times and had got great reaction. I really love it.

I'm planning to record it and put up on internet. Few my overseas friends asked me whether they could see it, that's why I will do it but still not sure when.

Anyway, this is my pleasure to have this set and can't wait to show you my own routine, cos I'm making one...

Cheers

Cups and Balls routine

In the last few weeks, I'm thinking about making my own CnB routine. it's not completely my own since I took the few classic phases in my routine.

My thinking is for middle sequence and also final load sequence.

Let see how it goes

Gathering D'Miracle Jkt

As I promise, this is the report from DM Jakarta's Gathering

I, for a second time, joined again in DM jkt Gath.

It's fun as usual. I came with my buddy Kent there, since Kent was a firsttimer there.

In my opinion DM Jkt sure did developed in some ways although not as far as I expected.
FYI, few guys did asked me what to perform and also judged their presentation performance.

A lot of lined up that day. but most of them did money tricks.

I did also bill in a ciggy with "a signed card in the sealed deck" touch.

That night was also felt so special with Ketvy Amazy and Woldini as a Magician Guest

Cheers
